Challenging tasks require powerful tools and people who know how to use them effectively
In our case, this primarily means strong, seaworthy boats and ships and, of course, professionally trained crews. And let me say it again clearly: we will need countless ships to carry out our missions and make our vision a reality.
Our activities as a non-profit organisation are intended to serve the general public and not the profit of individuals. That is why we have decided to build our boats and ships ourselves, custom-made and handcrafted, together with our Co-creators, in a campus founded according to our guiding principles. A campus that will break new ground!
All-in-one-concept
The all-in-one concept includes all aspects of the original ‘campus concept’. This means that, in addition to the complete shipyard with all its departments, the marine conservationist camp, accommodation for crew and volunteers, the training centre, the diving base and the marina are all located in one large, interconnected facility. Of course, this concept can only be implemented in rural areas, not least because of the camp.
Fundamentals of the campus
We want
- to found our campus as an association or foundation without owners in and with a country that shares our values
- its economic surpluses to benefit the people who work for it, the local community and, of course, our Marine Conservation Projects
- to build the most seaworthy, strongest and most durable wooden boats and ships for us, for like-minded organisations, individual activists, and all those who want to earn their living sustainably and environmentally consciously with the or at sea and contribute to the conservation of the oceans
- to preserve the traditional craftsmanship of boat building and combine it with modern manufacturing methods, but under no circumstances we do want to become an industrial enterprise
- to support artisanal fishermen in particular in their transition to sustainable energy with solid, honest boats at prices that are close to the costs
- to support sustainable passenger and freight transport with our boats and ships
We also want to be a model project as an enterprise and believe in
- Freedom -we believe in each other, and will allow, help and empower our fellow Co-Creators to grow in knowledge, skill and scope of responsibility
- Fairness – together, we are responsible for sustaining an engaging enterprise built on inclusiveness, striving to be fair with each other and everyone with whom we do business
- Commitment – we make and keep our own commitments to demonstrate personal responsibility to each other, our teams and our customers
Shipyard
The shipyard basically consists of a construction site with a slipway and/or a dry dock, wood workshops, metal workshops, wood and material storage and the lofting. More details can be found on the shipyard page.
Marine Conservationists Camp and Village
This refers to apartments/houses/tents that can be used for longer periods throughout the year for crew, staff, volunteers and visitors. More details can be found on the MC Camp & Village page.
Training centre
The training centre is used to train and further educate both shipyard employees and ship crews. More details can be found on the Training centre page.
